For the study, researchers analysed 100,902 participants with no history of heart attacks, strokes or cancer for a period of 7 years. They then divided them up into two groups: the first group were those who drank green tea at least three times a week and the second group hardly drank it at all.

As per the findings, people who drank green tea regularly had a 20% lower risk of heart disease and stroke, compared to those that had no green tea at all. Green tea lowers cholesterol levels and triglycerides, which may be responsible for the tea’s association with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, researchers concluded.
