Published in the Journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, the study builds on decades of research on rodent models that claim that adding extra choline to the maternal diet produces long term cognitive benefits for the offspring.
The findings suggest that the current recommended choline intake for expectant mothers does not fully meet the needs of the foetal brain. As a nutrient, choline is found in foods such as meats, fish, nuts, beans, vegetables, and eggs.
